Operating and Running Multiple Dental Practices With Dr. Jason Tanoory
In this 2-part episode feature, Dr. Gina Dorfman interviews Dr. Jason Tanoory, a successful multiple practice owner in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
Here are a few highlights from this Podcast episode:
Dr. Gina Dorfman: So, you opened your first practice, your flagship, back in 2001. When did you start expanding?
Dr. Jason Tanoory: We opened in 2001 and just like most people had one operatory. In the beginning, It was me and my wife. She answered the phones and I was scaling teeth. Slowly but surely it all began to just kind of balloon on us. We moved into a five opp office and from there a 12 opp, and we just kept growing. Today, our flagship is at its max at 17 total opps. We grew because we saw a need and a demand in our area. We were pulling patients from a 60 mile radius, so it made sense at the time to start expanding.
But, it was still a struggle. We certainly have had some growing pains along the way. We talk about calibration all the time with the teams. We have a calibration manual close to over 100 pages. It shows photo after photo and tells story after story about how certain situations are handled. So, we can onboard a new hygienist and they immediately know how we are diagnosing periodontal disease, our stance on fluoride, etc. So, in theory, all our patients across the board are hearing the same messages and receiving the same treatments.
